The twin rooms at Woodpecker Lodge in Kuching were perfect for my backpacking adventure. The beds were comfortable, and I loved how they could be pushed together. The open-concept bathrooms with either a bathtub or shower made it easy to freshen up after a day of exploring. Plus, the free WiFi was a huge bonus.
Personally, I wasn't a big fan of sharing a 5-10 bedded room with other guests. But I understand that some travelers enjoy the social aspect of it.

You can look at your partner when she/he taking bath and using the toilet because the toilet/bathroom is see-through.

The cleanliness
Very noisy, the sound from karaoke lounge at level 2 really make me sick, other than that is ok

As a traveler visiting Kuching for its waterfront attractions, Woodpecker Lodge's location was perfect. It's just a short walk away from the river and shopping area, making it convenient for me to explore and return for some rest. The friendly manager, Oliver, and his two adorable cats added a homely touch to my stay. The free washing machine, rooftop area, and fast internet in my room were also highly appreciated. The staff's helpfulness and Oliver's knowledge of Borneo made my experience even better. a highly recommended stay with great facilities at an affordable price.
Can recommend this hotel.

A bit noise until around midnight from a bar nearby

Steady and constant stream of Taxis available here: Getting around the city was as smooth as silk; taxis were readily available like bees to honey.
Noisy surroundings: The hustle and bustle outside prevented a peaceful slumber.

Room is clean
It is extremely noisy because there is a bar/disco just below which do not let you sleep until very late in the night.

I recently stayed at a hotel in the city center, near Sarawak Plaza, the waterfront, and banks. It was a great value for money, with a stunning view and friendly staff. I loved the unique features of the lodge, like their blessing box, which added a special touch to my stay. The location was perfect for exploring, as it was walking distance to the Kuching Waterfront.
The only thing that could have made the stay better was the breakfast items.

Overwhelmed with excitement, I must say that my stay at this mind-blowing lodge was an absolute blast! The location was beyond amazing, with restaurants, banks, and epic sightseeing spots just a stone's throw away. Not to mention, the low-budget options just made my jaw drop. My room, oh my gosh, the view was jaw-dropping, especially room no 310. It was equipped with everything I needed in such a cozy space - free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a flat-screen TV , plus they even provided towels, soap. The dorm mates were also cool, and I loved hanging out with the fluffy and cute cat, Ninja. And let's not forget about the rooftop terrace, where I could kick back and admire the nearby river. All in all, this place had way too many pros to count!

I recently stayed at a budget hotel in Malaysia and I must say, it was an excellent value for the price. The room was brilliant with an ensuite bathroom, which is quite rare for that price range. The owners were extremely friendly and made me feel comfortable, providing helpful recommendations for activities and dining. The room was well organized, maximizing space for ultimate comfort. The shower was great and the bed was super comfy, with a view of the waterfront. The hotel is conveniently located near the waterfront promenade, making it a safe and enjoyable walk at night. The service was attentive and laidback, adding to the overall positive experience. I also appreciated the fact that the hotel owners ran a laundry service, ensuring the cleanliness of the sheets and room. I can't think of a better place at that price and I will definitely stay there again in the future!
